Gekirock Part 1

Undivides is formed by Leda, Sujk (former Deluhi members) and Kihiro (exSupe) it is an unexpected band. How did you meet Kihiro?

I was introduced by KENÍCHI from SEX MACHINEGUNS. Actually Kihiro and KEN’ICHI are together in LOKA. He said he wanted to introduce me. Last year Kihiro wanted to start a band (before LOKA) and that’s when I met him for the first time. Actually, he invited me to perform with that band, but I was with DELUHI at that time, so I had to decline. Anyways, I told him several times, I wanted to work with him.

So, after DELUHI’s breakup, you started your solo Project and he got invited.

That’s right. After DELUHI’s breakup, I told him I wanted him to be vocalist. I also spoke with Sujk. I said “Even if Deluhi is not here anymore, I want to work with you again”. And that’s how we ended up.

Did you imagine a Project as UNDIVIDE while you were in DELUHI?

Not at all. This happened after DELUHI disbanded. After the disbandment I was doing several things related with music. I guess I had to do something meanwhile.

You are giving a seminary and you are about to realease an educational DVD, right?

Right. I play guitar since I was 14. At that time I liked 19 and Yuzu; I played acoustic guitar at the beginning. After that a friend made me listen to x-japan, so I started listening Hide and Luna Sea. From that moment I kept with violent bands as Metallica or Ozzy Osbourne, so my musical tastes are mostly metal.

In this album you also played bass, right?

Yes. I can play bass, so we kept the minimum in members.

Did you think about Kihiro since the first time you heard him sing?

Yes, I always thought he had a great voice.

Kihiro’s voice goes well with your music. How was it? When he said yes.

He made me really happy. He gets along with the masculine image of the album. DELUHI was a visual kei band, and that style always has a feminine side. However, it was like it didn’t exist in DELUHI. Some of the lyrics were in English and that kind of atmosphere was great.

DELUHI’s activity period was for about four years, so short. What was the reason for disbandment?

During the hiatus period, our bassist decided to leave. So we decided that if we weren’t the four of us we should disband. Since DELUHI’s was formed, we made everything together. If one of us wasn’t there, it wouldn’t be DELUHI. So we decided to disband.

It wouldn’t be DELUHI without these four people. This kind of vision shows how special the band was.
Yes. It was.

From DELUHI’s disbandment to, your solo Project. What kind of things were in your mind?

DELUHI was very serious, and even if I felt I had a hole in my heart, during that time (between DEUHI’s disbandment and UNDIVIDE) i was in a musical; I was working behind the scenes and in the dvd’s edition of the last DELUHI’s live. That kind of thing kept me busy, so I didn’t have the time to be sad or nostalgic.

So, once several time passed from DELUHI’s disbandment, you started your way to your Solo project. 

Before deciding DELUHI’s breakup, the band was in hiatus. But during that time I had the idea that DELUHI released an album. So I had started writing some lyrics, I hadn’t had the time to align the drums, bass and guitar parts in a song, they were instrumental. Some of those ended being the base for the new project. At first they were personal; I didn’t have the intention to start a new band.
